TEHRAN (FNA) - Tehran’s Envoy to the International Atomic Energy Agency Ali Asqar Soltanieh Monday said that the international conference on nuclear energy in Beijing heralds a new era for cleaning the political and poisonous atmosphere that ruled the agency in recent years.

The “International Ministerial Conference on Nuclear Energy in the 21st Century” opened April 20 in Beijing and some 30 energy ministers and representatives from 65 countries attended the three-day event.
The Iranian delegation, including Deputy Director for Planning and International Affairs at the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Mohammad Saeedi, AEOI’s Deputy Director for power plants Ahmad Fayyaz Bakhsh and Iran’s Ambassador to the IAEA Ali Asghar Soltaniyeh, arrived in Beijing on Sunday.
Referring to his meeting with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director General Mohammad ElBaradei on the sidelines of the conference, Soltanieh stressed in an interview with FNA on Monday that the key role of the Islamic Republic of Iran as an active country in the UN nuclear watchdog agency had been emphasized in the meeting.
“I stressed in this meeting that Iran’s nuclear case has been completely obviated, finished and (become) normal, “he added.
“I reminded (ElBaradei) that Iran is an active and successful country in nuclear field and is able to play a key role in the IAEA’s scientific and technical activities, and the IAEA director general also laid emphasis on this role,” Soltanieh pointed out.
Experts and representatives from Iran, the U.S., India, Germany, France, Nigeria, Chile, Jordan, Syria, Russia, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, Argentina and others attended the Beijing conference.
